Job description

The University of Johannesburg is actively recruiting for an Associate Professor in the Deans Office, College of Business and Economics, the incumbent will be responsible for the quality assurance within CBE. This is a critical position to keep up the standard of programmes, the submission for new or changes to existing programmes on a high level, ensuring the management of programme reviews and ensuring undergraduate timetabling compliance and fairness.
 
Duties:
 

Quality assurance: 

Responsible for the quality assurance within CBE regarding:

  • application for new programmes and amendments of exciting programmes;
  • oversee programme reviews;
  • oversee updating of yearbooks;
  • oversee undergraduate timetable scheduling; and
  • planning meeting timelines related to approval cycles and schedules.

Student Supervision:

  •  Providing guidance and supervision to Postgraduate students at Honours, Masters, and Doctoral levels, fostering their academic and research growth.

Research:

  •   Engaging in research contributing to the development of new knowledge and advancements in the discipline.

Teaching and learning:

  • Will be expected to deliver guest lecture on invitation.

Committee Participation:

  •  Active involvement in college-level committees, sharing expertise and contributing to the decision-making process.

Leadership Support:

  • Contributing to leadership initiatives within the College.

Minimum requirements

Qualifications

  • A recognized doctoral qualification.

Experience

  •  Between five- and eight-years’ working experience in Higher Education.
  •  To ensure quality assurance within CBE the person needs:
    • institutional knowledge;
    • knowledge of DHET/CHE/HEQC/SAQA requirements;
    • understand the workflow within UJ and planning meeting timelines related to approval cycles and schedules.
  •  Supervision experience at postgraduate level (completed students)

Knowledge

  • Up to date knowledge of the DHET/CHE/HEQC/SAQA requirements.
