Job description

Job Description:

The Department offers various modules at the undergraduate level, and it also offers a comprehensive broad-based Honours degree as well as two coursework degrees at the Master’s level. These latter coursework and mini-dissertation programmes lead to registration as either a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). The Department of Psychology also offers a Master’s degree by dissertation and a PhD program. The Department has a vibrant research culture and hosts a number of public lectures and research events.

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Contribution to departmental research initiatives and output.
  • Teaching at the undergraduate and post graduate level.
  • Contribute to the Clinical/Counselling Psychology professional training programme.
  • Research and clinical supervision at the Master’s level.
  • Research supervision at Honours level.
  • Course coordination, curriculum development and associated administration.

Minimum requirements

  • Masters qualification (NQF 9) with PhD in progress.
  • Two (2) years’ lecturing experience.
  • Knowledge of general psychology.
  • Knowledge of clinical/counselling psychology.
  • Experience in clinical/therapeutic supervision (including assessments and report writing).
  • Knowledge of research and publication strategies.
  • Registration as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with the HPCSA.
