Job description

The UJ remains a leader in clinical simulation teaching, learning and assessment and this has been embedded in multiple disciplines in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Based on this, the Faculty of Health Sciences has an exciting position housed in the Clinical Simulation Laboratory and related areas. The successful incumbent will take up a technical support role within the simulation environment in the Faculty of Health Sciences 
 
 Responsibilities:  

• The preparation, control and ongoing technical support in relation to simulation-based learning activities.  
• Administrative and technical functioning and coordination of the Clinical Simulation Laboratory (and related areas) at the UJ.
• Consumable stock, medication (under supervision) and related equipment control. 
• Certain driving (transport) responsibilities related to the Clinical Simulation Laboratory and related areas. 
• Liaise with academic and faculty members regarding the preparation and control of the Clinical Simulation Laboratory. 

Minimum requirements

• Grade 12 Certificate and Diploma / Advanced Certificate / Occupational Certificate (NQF-Level 6) 
• A clinical qualification leading to registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and/or the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Valid driving license (Code B) 
 
Experience:

• At least One Year of Clinical Practice whilst registered with the HPCSA and/or SANC.
• Experience with consumable stock and medication control and the administration of clinical equipment maintenance. 
• Experience and familiarity with simple computer-based applications like word processing and related activities.  

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of simulation-based activities involved in teaching, learning and assessment of clinical qualifications.

Recommendations: 

• A post-school education qualification (certificate, higher certificate, diploma or degree).
• Experience in a simulated clinical environment either as an educator or in a technical support role. 
• Occupational Health and Safety experience/background

• Motivated team player with the desire to share creative solutions and clinical simulation best practice.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• It must be noted that the position will entail moderate lifting and carrying of equipment, cleaning of equipment walking, sitting and standing for prolonged periods; working with technology, including electrical power and compressed gases.
