Job description

- Manage the team through strategic leadership.
- Ensure that the maintenance of HR Policies, processes and practices are consistent, effective and efficient within the HCM team.
- Provide leadership and oversee the provision of professional administrative service to the UJ community in critical areas, including appointments, terminations, exits, contract management, academic promotions, professional inauguration and records management in line with the HCM Services Charter.
- Manage and support administrative related internal and external audits and put mitigation strategies in place.
- Ensure performance management is embedded as a culture within the team.
- Continually measure the efficiency and effectiveness by providing related management reports, provide updates through the HCM Operational plan, and HCM Business Intelligence tools such as the HCM dashboard.
- Ensure individual value add to contribute to the HCM leadership collectively.
- Identify and mitigate HCM risks to protect HCM's reputation and Implement decisions taken by UJ Governance Structures.
- Collaboration with HCM Directors and Senior Managers on key HCM interventions including data integrity.
- Proactively look at best practice regarding transactional admin processes.
- Develop SOP’s and related processes.
- Ensure data management principles and controls are in place to support data integrity, credibility and compliance.
- Leading the change from transactional processes to automated systems.
- Ensure that data input and output processes are in place to be able to manage effectively.
- Change data management practices to strategic information management.
- Support the implementation of HCM strategy through the HCM Strategic Plan.
- Mitigate and escalate HCM matters that are of concern.
- Align practices with Policies and the Conditions of Service.
- Monitor the Unit's risk profile by identifying risks and by measuring the effectiveness.
- Enable and facilitate sound HCM processes.
- Prepare related governance reports that focus on the purpose of the report/s, accuracy, add value by analysing data and make strategic recommendations.
- Manage and enhance the archiving system.
Minimum requirements
- Relevant Degree at NQF 8
- At least eight (8) years relevant experience at the senior management level
- At least five (5) years experience in Oracle
- At least three (3) years experience in working with HCM (HR) and Payroll related matters
- Working knowledge of the business partnering model
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and report writing)
- Negotiations skills
- Strong Business Acumen
- Strong time management and priorities management skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Labour Law knowledge
- High-level skill in using Microsoft Office package
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task and work cross functionally
