Job description
- Lecturing modules such as Communications Network and Advanced Programming.
- Teaching and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the AIS.
- Developing a research pipeline and undertaking proven research in the overarching study fields of Information Systems.
- Undertaking research and publishing extensively, including in high-impact journals.
- Developing a research pipeline and undertaking proven research in the overarching study fields of Information Systems.
- Developing and maintaining professional and industry partnerships.
- Partaking in supervision of Postgraduate students at Honours, Masters and Doctoral level.
- Being available to take any academic administration role within the Department.
- Participating in Departmental committee work.
- Participating in community engagement activities.
- Contributing to achieving the objectives and plans of the department, involved in all aspects of supervision, research, research leadership and policy engagement.
- Attending, and speaking at conferences and seminars, as well as participating and assisting with the arrangement and organisation of conferences, research colloquiums, workshops, and seminars in order to enhance research and knowledge dissemination.
- Participating in the hosting of international researchers, and developing local and international institutional partnerships.
Minimum requirements
- A relevant Doctoral degree (NQF 10) in Information Systems/Information Technology or its related disciplines.
- Good track record of postgraduate supervision at Masters’ and Doctoral level.
- Excellent teaching skills and knowledgeable in the field of information systems or its related disciplines.
- Proven research record in the above-mentioned.
- Appropriate teaching and practical experience, proven research ability.
- The ability to publish research findings in high-ranked accredited/peer-reviewed journals.
- The candidate must be willing to teach in other areas of information systems when required, and also on other campuses.
- A relevant Master’s degree (NQF 10) in Information Systems/Information Technology or its related disciplines.
- Excellent teaching skills and knowledgeable in the field of information systems or its related disciplines.
- Appropriate teaching and practical experience.
- The ability to publish research findings in high-ranked accredited/peer-reviewed journals.
- Excellent written and verbal English communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues and lead research teams.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- The ability to publish in high-impact journals.
- The ability to supervise graduate students.
- Research management skills.
- Overall management skills.
- Preference will be given to Senior Lecturer candidates.
- Knowledge of the online learning environment.
- An NRF rating (or equivalent), or the capability of obtaining one within three to five years.
- Knowledge and/or experience in the area/discipline of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
- Knowledge of blended learning.
