Job description
- Manage staff of the Institutional Repository(IR) and Research Data Management (RDM) sections
- Build and promote the IR and RDM collections
- Apply quality control to ensure the integrity of the collections
- System administrator of the Vital and Figshare systems
- Compile and implement a three year plan to increase the usage of the scholarly output of UJ
- Provide training of the IR and DRM systems
- Support the open access agenda
- To build, promote and maintain the IR and RDM systems of UJ
- To increase the usage of these systems
- To manage the staff within these sections
- To do quality control to ensure the integrity of the systems
Minimum requirements
- Degree in Information Science or equivalent qualification
- At least five years’ experience in the IR environment
- Knowledge and understanding of institutional and research data management repositories
- Knowledge of open access.
- Familiarity with the principles and techniques of developing and maintaining an institutional research data management repository.
- Good knowledge of bibliometrics.
- Copyright knowledge in relation to institutional repositories and Open Access
- Advanced computer skills.
- Basic management and supervision skills.
- Good communication and inter personal skill.
- Attention to detail
- Training and presentation skills
- Ability to use office technology (Word, Excel, etc.) and the integrated library management system (Sierra)
