Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer/Lecturer (Department of ARCHITECTURE)

Job description
- Present design studios, theory lectures and workshops at undergraduate as well as at postgraduate levels in our various modules of Architecture
- Assess students and administer the modules
- Assist with curriculum development, module- coordination and administration in modules
- Actively undertake research that leads to research outcomes/publications
- Participate in community engagement programmes and projects
- Be willing to act as a head of department (AP;SL only), year and, or module coordinator
- Assist with administrative duties as determined by the Head of Department or the Executive Dean
- Initiate, develop and support research within in the staff body
- Submit all marks via the online platform to the department
- To supervise Master and Ph.D. students
- To initiate and develop strategic projects which relates research to teaching to practice and possibly funding.
Minimum requirements
- Master’s degree in Architecture.
- A minimum of three years’ proven practice experience in the built environment and/or in lecturing at tertiary level.
- Proven academic writing skills as evidenced by publication in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings (for Senior Lecturer).
- PhD in Architecture is a requirement for the Associate Professor Level.
- A minimum of three years’ proven practice experience in the built environment and/or in lecturing at tertiary level
- Excellent academic writing skills as evidenced by publication in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings;
- Supervising postgraduate research.
- Registered or registerable with SACAP/SACLAP or other comparable international professional council;
- An NRF rating at associate professor level.
- International experience at senior level.
- Good language and communication skills;
- Good computer skills in Microsoft word, Powerpoint, Outlook, Excel,
- Undertaking to further own academic qualifications and research output.
- Team leader and good initiation skills
- Willingness and ability to engage directly with research upon taking up office
- Ability to relate teaching to research and/or creative practice or work and vice versa.
- Experience or ability to work within the thrusts of the university.
- Experience or ability to work with the concepts of Decolonisation and 4IR
- Be willing to engage in online learning platforms.
