Job description

The Department of English seeks to appoint a permanent member of academic staff at Lecturer level. The suitable candidate should have a minimum of 3 years teaching, course development and course administration experience.

Responsibilities:  
 
  • Teaching academic literacy and academic writing; research
  • Developing learning material, including online
  • Course administration

Minimum requirements

  • A Master’s degree, with a specialisation in or proven experience of teaching English academic literacy and writing at undergraduate level
  • Higher Education teaching experience of at least 3 years
  • An ability to conduct scholarly research in the area/s of expertise
 
Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:

  • An ability to teach students from diverse social and educational backgrounds
  • An ability to develop learning material, including online, and familiarity with blended learning
  • An ability to work as part of a team
 
 Recommendations:

  • A doctoral degree or significant progress towards completing it
  • A background in teaching English literature would be a strong recommendation
