Job description

The Council of the University of Johannesburg has declared the University as a mandatory vaccination site as per the applicable policy ((https://www.uj.ac.za/covid-19/). All applications and offers of employment is dependent upon compliance with the said policy.


Responsibilities:
 
  • Managing of Varsity Cup Coaching Staff and Club Coaches.
  • Ensure that the club recruits 70% Quality players. Build relationships with schools and offer specialised coaching clinics.
  • Team preparation for Varsity Cup, Young Guns, Varsity 7’s, USSA and PGC
  • Individual player skills development and personalised coaching.
  • Continuous interaction with Manager and other stakeholders
  • Develop marketing campaigns to promote teams and sport events.
  • Ensure that student-athletes undergo physical evaluation, treatment and assistance at sporting events.
  • Notify manager on any emergencies and/or any serious player injuries and complete incident report form
  • Manage recruitment, performance, training and supervising of teams
  • Ensure that individuals representing his/her team play according to the rules and regulations of the game and the facility
  • Attendance of rugby workshops and related skills master classes

Minimum requirements

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree/ B. Tech or equivalent qualification.
  • IRB level 2 Coaching. IRB level 3 Coaching would be an advantage.
  • Boksmart certified.
  • Five (5) years related experience in Coaching.
  • Three (3) year experience in Varsity Cup Coaching structure.
 
Recommendations:
  • Three (3) year experience in professional rugby coaching.
  • Relations with Sport Federations, Rugby Unions and Schools.
  • A qualification in management studies would be an advantage.
  • Excellent people skills
