Job description
The Council of the University of Johannesburg has declared the University as a mandatory vaccination site as per the applicable policy ((https://www.uj.ac.za/covid-19/). All applications and offers of employment is dependent upon compliance with the said policy.
- The acquisitions of all library information resources according to policy and procedure.
- Assist the Manager of Technical Services with the allocation, management and reporting of the Information Budget
- Initiate, facilitate and complete the supplier application and approval process
- Evaluate all suppliers according to policy
- Manage the internal ordering system (Nevada/Sapnet) and ensure that all internal orders received are completed as per policy and procedure
- Supervision of staff within the section
- Plan and organize the workflow within the section and implement decision and policies
Minimum requirements
- Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the acquisitions of library information resources
- Minimum of 2 years’ management experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the management of supplier contracts and agreements
- Extensive knowledge in acquisitions of library information resources
- Knowledge of the academic publishing industry
- Knowledge of supplier contracts
- Knowledge of the academic environment
- Previous experience of the Sierra system
