Job description
- Support the Head of Faculty Administration (HFA) with academic administrative processes.
- Manage the Qualifications Verification System (QVS) processes of the Faculty.
- Monitor and manage the academic life cycle of undergraduate and postgraduate students in relation to applications, registrations, progress reports, assessment, graduation and alumni support.
- Manage the academic structure governance processes for qualifications in the Faculty of Education.
- Manage the process of bursary allocations for postgraduate students.
- Serve as secretariat for a select group of Faculty Committees.
- Compile reports related to academic administration.
Minimum requirements
- A three-year professional Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of four years of academic administration experience linked to the student life cycle in a higher education environment.
- Experience with Integrated Tertiary software (ITS) and perceptive content, in relation to the student life-cycle processes of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Experience in managing the Qualifications Verification System (QVS) processes of a Faculty.
- Knowledge of and experience with bursary finance budgets and bursary allocations.
- Experience with managing the academic life cycle of students registered in online qualifications.
- Experience in minute taking, writing agendas and arranging meetings.
- Advanced computer literacy in Windows, MS Office (MS Word and Excel).
- Ability to work under pressure in a multi campus environment.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with a high level of proficiency in English.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in one other official South African language.
- A proven track record of organizational skills and precision to detail in relation to academic administration in a higher education institution.
- Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Facilitate an ethos of care and preferred student experience in a higher education environment.
- Knowledge of UJ academic regulations, policies and business processes.
- Versatile team player who will excel within a higher education environment.
