Job description

• Prepare, implement and monitor a comprehensive marketing and sales strategy for all UJ Arts & Culture productions, exhibitions and concerts.
• Promote other events such as conferences, lectures, festivals, readings, workshops and any other projects.
• Increase and diversify audiences.
• Improve income through ticket sales.
• Identify and develop new markets.
• Schedule and deliver stakeholder communication.
• Plan co-ordinate and action all marketing communications with stakeholders.
• Liaise with the Head, Production Manager and/or guest Artistic Teams over image, copy and marketing message.
• Manage and/or coordinate updates and development of the division’s websites including event listings and its ticketing platform.
• Maintain, manage, and grow the UJ Arts & Culture database.
• Monitoring, evaluation and reporting on marketing and publicity efforts across all platforms and mediums.
• Responsibility for PR and publicity and co-ordination thereof.
• Co-ordinate PR events and photo-shoots.
• Collect, co-ordinate, write and distribute media releases and articles.
• Co-ordinate, compile and produce monthly newsletter, production programmes, issues of Art Much? magazine, season brochures and other publications – including design brief, copywriting and scheduling.
• Control of all promotional material and marketing equipment.
• Handle all aspects of guest hospitality including (but not limited to) invitations, RSVP’s, catering and seating plans.
• Oversee social media messaging across all online platforms.
• Liaise and build effective relationships with the
• media to ensure optimal positive publicity.
• Create cost-effective print and electronic marketing and sales materials.
• Brief designers or creative agencies and oversee design and production processes.
• Increase the client base for group tickets through active outreach such as cold call solicitations, sales visits, cultivation of external partnerships, and new sales initiatives.
• Communicate and build effective relationships with the UJ students to create awareness of the opportunities available to them. 
• Build and maintain existing client relationships in order to increase repeat business.
• Build targeted mailing and e-mailing lists.
• Greet groups where necessary and ensure an exceptional visitor experience.
• Respond to inquiries.
• Liaise with visiting companies to plan and manage agreed marketing activity and budgets. 
• Responsibility for any marketing assistants or interns.

•Diploma (NQF6)/BCom/BA Degree/BA Marketing and Communication  
• Experience in an arts and culture environment
