The Institutional Office for HIV and AIDS (IOHA) is to fulfil a coordination role of the HIV/AIDS programme in accordance with the White Paper for PSET (2013), Transformation Framework for HE (2015), NSP for HIV, TB and STIs (2017), Adolescent and Youth Policy (2017) and Social Inclusion Policy Framework of PSET (2016). It functions within the legal and management framework of the University of Johannesburg under the Charter of UJ's HIV/AIDS Committee to ensure the realisation of the strategy.
IOHA strategizes its HIV/AIDS prevention programmes through Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), addressing social and behavioural determinants, peer education, community engagement, mass HIV counselling and testing, care and support for people living with HIV.
 
Job Description:
Provision of support to students on issues relating to health and wellness, sex and sexuality including HIV, TB and STIs at the University’s extended programmes academically and emotionally.
  
Responsibilities: 
 
  • To provide combination prevention interventions and strategies aimed at reducing new HIV infections & providing holistic service for PLHIV within the UJ community.
  • To develop behavioural and social level interventions in relation to HIV and AIDS, STI’s and TB.
  • Strengthen partnerships in order to efficiently achieve program objectives.
  • Positioning IOHA amongst its Internal and External Stakeholders using strategic and innovative methods of communication.
  • To strengthen IOHA Monitoring & evaluation.
  • To deliver a professional, efficient and effective client and office- related service.
  • Contribute towards knowledge creation internally, nationally and globally in regards to HIV, TB and STIs within the higher education sector. 

Minimum requirements

  • Basic degree in relevant Social or Health Science field (Psychology, Social Work, Nursing and so forth).
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
  • At least two years HIV and AIDS related experience within the Higher Education Sector.
  • Previous experience with youth HIV related programmes.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Honours degree in related field
