Job description

  • Implementation of Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment process, corrective action and follow up
  • Co-ordination of Legal training needs as per the OHS Act and Regulations and general training
  • Ensure implementation of standards and policies
  • Contractor safety
  • Conduct investigations of all incidents as per section 24 and ensure appropriate SHE practices
  • Co-ordinate waste management on campus
  • Safety coordinating of Events
  • Co-ordinate emergency procedures
  • Off campus privately own student accommodation safety inspections

Minimum requirements

  • Diploma in safety management or relevant qualification dealing with fire related risks, gas safety, emergency preparedness
  • 10 years’ experience in Health and Safety
  • 5 years’ experience dealing with injury on duty is essential
  • 5 years’ experience in auditing legal compliance is essential
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Recommendations:

  • Experience dealing with fire related risks, gas safety, emergency preparedness, safety inspections, safety meetings, safety training audits.
  • Previous relevant experience in a higher education institution
  • Must be able to work extended hours when required
  • Must be able to travel between the campuses when required
