Job description

  • Manage database cleansing activities including address validation/updates, returned mail, opt-outs and unsubscribes
  • Continually ensure data quality via all methods of data entry
  • Ensure best practice is adhered to in terms of data input and management
  • Conduct regular data audits to check data quality
  • Regularly monitor acquisition and retention of supporters and report on issues/opportunities
  • ROI and life-time value analysis, especially for new fundraising programs
  • Develop and implement campaign tracking for all fundraising programs including events and individual giving programs
  •  Present key data insights to UJ Senior Leadership to help with the ongoing assessment and strategic development of fundraising programs
  •  Assist Fundraising Team with ad doc queries and data insights
  • Implement data segmentation strategies
  • Prepare data extractions for supporter communications including direct mail and email communications
  • Undertake data profiling to gain key insights and use to guide future acquisition and retention strategies
  • Develop and implement regular reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) across key fundraising metrics
  • Develop detailed post campaign reports for all fundraising programs
  • Assist Program Managers with forecasting and budgeting based on data insights

Minimum requirements

  • BCom or BSC degree in Information Technology
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data analytics, reporting and database management
  • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience within the relevant non-profit or higher educational sector
  • Excellent communication, presentation, proposal writing, and project management skills.
  • High professional and ethical standards for handling information.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • The ability to work across different Institutional disciplines to establish confidence with senior executives, faculty, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong people skills and diverse cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
  • The ability to work independently combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve the UJ strategic goals

Recommendations:

  • Possess the maturity to handle sensitive and confidential matters professionally and with integrity
  • Be resourceful and independent, yet comfortable working within a strong team-oriented and integrated fundraising as well as communications environment
  • Understanding of donor/Customer relationship management database
  • Working knowledge of funding cycles among foundations, corporates, and trusts
  • Experience of communications and print and electronic media content development
  • Knowledge of the academic research environment
  • Have a sound knowledge of general fundraising practices and current trends in this area
  • Have excellent knowledge of SA corporate environment, BBBEE policies, and Government agencies
  • To have experience in developing and delivering on fundraising strategies and business plans
  • Offer strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrable proposal-writing skills
  • Have excellent computer skills ( Presentations, Reporting, and related correspondence and finances)
  • Travel locally, nationally, and internationally, and work evenings and weekends as required.
