Job description

The Centre for Academic Technologies (CAT) supports teaching and learning through the use of innovative and advanced technologies. Ensuring the training and support on the use of such technologies for both staff and students is a central part of CAT. CAT consists of a staff support (Instructional Design Team), student support (Helpdesk Team), and technical/data supports (IT team). Ultimately, we support all staff, students, and support stakeholders on all four of our UJ campuses.

Responsibilities: 

  • To empower staff/students in the effective use of technologies for teaching and learning.
  • Development of training materials and training support for staff in preparation for varied teaching and learning environments.
  • Project managing project the exploration of new software/technologies.
  • Liaise with the IT team in drawing relevant data to plan for the support of T&L.
  • Manage the detailed T&L processes, which includes supporting faculties with relevant analyses of current and historical Learning Management System trends and future projections.

Minimum requirements

  • A Master of Arts degree, or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g. Education, Social Science, or any equivalent field with experience in working with data).
  • At least three to five years’ experience working in the higher education sector.
  • At least three years’ experience in working with data extraction, analysis and/or modelling.
  • Familiarity with the Higher Education Systems i.e. Learning Management Systems e.g. Blackboard
