Job description
- The Johannesburg Business School is actively recruiting for a Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship to join its dynamic team.
- This is a challenging and demanding position as the Director will be required to grow and build on the present strengths of the Centre, whilst leading a small team of staff.
- The Director will report to the Dean, Johannesburg Business School.
- Establish the Centre within the entrepreneurial and small business environment within the Greater Soweto, Johannesburg Metro and nationally.
- Support the Dean with the forging of significant partnerships (local and international), to leverage programme development and coaching opportunities, funding initiatives and opportunities, and faculty exchanges and support.
- Raise profile of the Centre (local and international).
- Offer training courses to the youth, business owners and other interested parties within the realm of its mandate.
- Monitor and evaluate the development of small and micro-enterprises.
- Provide industry-sponsored UJ-accredited short-learning programmes on entrepreneurship and small business development at NQF levels 4 to 6.
- Report to sponsors on the impact of interventions following best practice in Enterprise, Supplier and Social Development.
- Provide the Dean with the annual financial plan.
- Responsible for operational, strategy and target plans.
- Control the financial budget.
- Raise capital.
- Ensure financial sustainability of the Centre.
- Support the Dean and Human Resources Business Partner as a Human Resources liaison coordinator.
- Assist with the developing, coordinating, implementing and monitoring of employee performance and development plans.
- Support the Dean and Human Resources Business Partner with managing and encouraging sound and effective employee relations.
- Manage Human Resources and Payroll-related documentation (appointments, claims, contracts).
- Work with all stakeholders to manage the operational and administrative functions for events, programmes, workshops, conferences to ensure each project is delivered efficiently.
- Providing leadership, motivation, direction and support to the teams for each event/programme.
- Managing budgets from start to finish (including procure-to-pay, invoicing, accounts receivables and reconciliations).
- Integrate the JBS values in every decision, execution and interaction.
- Provide back up support within the Centre for Entrepreneurship Team or broader JBS team as required.
Minimum requirements
- A postgraduate qualification at NQF level 8.
- At least five years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in stakeholder management.
- Experienced in administration, project management and coordination.
- Operational competence and overall management.
- Proven entrepreneurial skills.
- Ability to monitor and evaluate the development of especially micro-enterprises by means of a database of micro and small businesses.
- Ability to prove industry-sponsored UJ accredited professional development programmes on entrepreneurship and small business development on NQF4 and 5 levels.
- Proven detailed execution.
- Ability to report to sponsors on the impact of interventions following best practice in Enterprise, Supplier and Social Development.
- Proven fundraising ability to ensure the sustainability of the Centre for Entrepreneurship.
- Ability to strategise macro and systemic issues affecting entrepreneurship.
- Academic experience.
- Be well connected with the small business sector.
