Job description

UJ has several online degrees and diplomas, and short learning programmes, both undergraduate and postgraduate. A Project Manager is required, reporting to the Director of the Centre for Academic Technologies (CAT), to provide high-level coordination and oversight of the implementation of online teaching and learning.

Job Description:

The Senior Manager for this advertised position will be required to take the academic lead in the design, material development, project management and quality assurance of a range of online programmes (SLPs, MOOCs & CEPs).

Responsibilities: 
 
  • Plan and project coordinate the development of online learning programmes;
  • Ensure the quality of content and design of online programmes;
  • Lead the team with the latest online design principles for implementation in the development of the online programmes;
  • Report on and analyse data on the online programmes using both quantitative, qualitative and evidence-based analysis;
  • Lead on the relevant educational technologies for online teaching and learning; and
  • Identify trends and solutions for problems in online teaching and learning. 

Minimum requirements

  • A PhD in a relevant field.
  • A strong academic background, including publications and evidence of research fundraising;
  • Experience in online teaching and learning, either as an academic lecturer or within professional academic support;
  • A conceptual understanding of online teaching and learning and familiarity with current literature on emerging online educational trends;
  • Experience with evidence on varied research on educational technologies for teaching and learning;
  • Excellent written, oral and electronic communication skills and proven ability to write high-level proposals and reports;
  • Experience with using quantitative data for teaching and learning interventions and reports;
  • Experience with evidence-based research in the education field;
  • Evidence of leading diverse teams in the implementation of innovative learning technologies; and
