Job description
- Discipline-specific teaching in Fashion Design and Fashion Production at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Contribute to the successful design, delivery, and development of curricula within the subject area.
- Drive industry, outreach, and community engagement projects
- Coordination and contribution towards integrated teaching and learning
- Coordination of a year programme and module(s)
- Perform administrative and other ad hoc duties as required
- Contribute to accredited publications (textual and/or creative output) as per UJ requirements
Minimum requirements
- Master’s degree in Fashion Design or evidence that a Master’s degree will be completed within the next year
- Two years experience teaching patterns and garment construction in a tertiary environment
- Experience teaching first-year
- Deep knowledge of textiles construction and fabrication
- Commitment to contributing to the Department research focus areas and output
- Evidence of a teaching and learning portfolio demonstrating innovative remote teaching methodologies and a focus on decolonization of the discipline
- Excellent English communication skills
- Excellent time management
- Good organizing, planning, and writing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills that acknowledge different cultural perspectives
- The ability to work in a team context
- Problem-solving
- The ability to adapt to changing circumstances
- A keenness to investigate and implement new teaching and learning approaches to align with changing circumstances
- Computer pattern making (i.e. Gerber AccuMark)
- Versatile skillset relating to design and production
- Contributions to community outreach and engagement
