Job description
- Responsible for the overall performance of the Supply Chain Unit.
- Ensure an effective and efficient Supply Chain Management value chain.
- Drive SCM unit to excellence in all aspects of supply chain management aligned to the institution’s strategic objectives.
- Develop initiatives to optimize value of the entire functions in creating a world class SCM unit.
- Manage performance to ensure attainment of institutional goals and objectives.
- Develop, implement and monitor SCM policies and procedures in line with relevant legislation and fit for purpose industry practices.
- Ensure high quality consistent performance and standards across all operations.
- Drive compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards related to procurement.
- Demand Management and Expenditure Control.
- SCM Unit Talent Management.
- Customer Relationship Management.
- Supplier performance and relationship management.
- Ensure attainment of the University Supplier and Enterprise Development targets.
- Continuous risk assessment and mitigation thereof
- Continuous control environment enhancement.
Minimum requirements
- Postgraduate/Honours in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (NQF 8)
- 8 years’ experience - preferably in the supply chain management role
- At least 5 years of proven people management skills within medium to large environment, at senior leadership level.
- 3-5 years’ experience within an SCM environment
- A Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification would be an advantage.
