Job description
- Teaching of undergraduate students in Department of Biomedical Sciences.
- Actively involved in core activities of the department such as academic administration, course development, consulting, and community related projects.
- Maintaining a scholarly profile in line with a L appointment in an academic department
- Actively participating in the research focus areas of the Department, producing outputs such as journal papers, procuring external research funding etc.
- Facilitate teaching and learning within the domain of Biomedical Sciences.
- Facilitate theory and practice integration..
Minimum requirements
- BTech degree in Biomedical Technology/ Biomedical Sciences and preferable a Masters/ PhD qualification or registered for a Masters or if with a Masters, commitment to register soon after commencement of duties for a PhD
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (Medical Technology Board) in Cytology
- 2-4 years teaching and or related laboratory experience
- Excellent command in the field of Medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science
- Good written and verbal English communications skills
- Teaching skills and good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues
- Good planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to self-manage own research group.
- Enthusiasm and passion for education, research and community engagement
- The ability to function independently as well as in a team
- Good time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
- Involvement in student clinical supervision or tutoring.
- A track record of postgraduate research supervision and publication
- Innovative teaching techniques incorporating blended learning
