Job description

The Department of Interior Design within the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture is seeking a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer to join our dynamic and passionate team of academics.
 
 
Responsibilities:  
 
  • Facilitate teaching and learning in the field of Interior Design at the undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Supervise student research at Honours and Masters level.
  • Develop and participate in multidisciplinary and collaborative projects within the department and between departments and faculties.
  • Contribute meaningfully towards societal and professional community engagement that add value to the department, faculty and institution profile, in national and international platforms.
  • Conduct research and publish accredited research and creative outputs relevant to the field of Interior Design and Interior Architecture on an ongoing basis.
  • Execute core activities of the department, such as academic administration, research, short-course development, evaluation of students in industry experience, marketing and community service projects.

Minimum requirements

Senior Lecturer:
 
  • Doctoral degree with a focus on Interior Design and Interior Architecture.
  • A track record of good teaching abilities at tertiary level in Interior Design and Interior Architecture.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction and detailing in interior design and interior architecture, with a strong understanding of materials, methods, and industry standards.
  • Digital proficiency with expertise in Revit, AutoCAD and other industry-related software.
  • Experience with Masters supervision.
  • Accredited research output with a focus on Interior Design and Interior Architecture, or a cognate discipline.
 
Lecturer:
 
  • Master degree with a focus on Interior Design and Interior Architecture, with a commitment to registering for a doctoral qualification.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction and detailing in interior design and interior architecture, with a strong understanding of materials, methods, and industry standards.
  • Digital proficiency with expertise in Revit, AutoCAD and other industry-related software.
  • A defined research trajectory that will result in peer-reviewed publications.

Lecturer:
  • A track record of good teaching abilities at tertiary level
  • Research output with a focus on Interior Design and Interior Architecture
  • Studying towards a doctoral qualification
