Job Description:

The Division for Teaching Excellence (DTE) is within the University of Johannesburg. The Incumbent is expected to provide a high-level assistance to the Senior Director of Division for Teaching Excellence.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Manage the Accelerated Academic Mentorship Programme.
  • Management of the Assistant Lecturers – appointments, development, and monitoring.
  • Management and support of the nGAP project for the University.
  • Management and support of the Nurturing Emerging scholars programme (NESP) for the University
  • Coordinate symposiums/master classes.
  • Provide support for the UCDP/G and ensure compliance across projects in collaboration with the UCDP Manager in DTE
  • Manage and Coordinate the Teaching Innovation Fund.
  • Draft and compiles report and other forms of assurance for Governing structures and external bodies.
  • Provide support for specific projects as required and other duties as assigned by the Senior Director.
  • Support with new institutional developments as and when required.

Minimum requirements

  • Degree or any relevant qualification (NQF 8), with 5 years’ job-related experience
  • In-depth understanding of current national and international debates around developments in Higher Education
  • Excellent understanding of academic planning, policy development in Higher Education Institutions
  • Demonstrated Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with the governance requirements of a University
  • Exemplary personal qualities of integrity, sound judgment, energy, wisdom and accommodative interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent written, oral and electronic communication skills, and proven ability to write high level proposals and reports; and
  • High-level writing and computing skills.
