Job description

The Department of Industrial Psychology and People Management, situated in the College of Business and Economics, School of Management has a comprehensive offering at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, both in traditional university qualifications and professional development qualifications. Our comprehensive offering comprises of three major programmes: Industrial Psychology; Human Resource Management (HRM) and Leadership. All our postgraduate programmes have a strong research component. Our aim is to develop outstanding People Professionals, up to the critical leadership task of making their organisations and people future fit as they move into a radically different future.
 
Job Description:
 
A full professor with behavioural science as an academic underpinning, both at undergrade and postgraduate level. The person must be able to carry out duties to promote and lead postgraduate leadership programmes to be globally recognised as pioneers in the field of organisational leadership and create a visible, unique, academic footprint especially in Africa. This ideal candidate must be a thought leader in the field of Organisational Leadership and be able to develop a unique leadership research niche area/ chair/ centre.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Leading and developing the Leadership programme
  • Lecturing face-to-face and ONLINE in related modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Supervising postgraduate student research in various areas of leadership, steering research to enable economic and social upliftment to the greater good of the South African population
  • Maintaining a research output pipeline to meet the yearly required supervision and publication research output units in the field of Leadership
  • Publishing research results in scientific peer-reviewed journals
  • Presenting research results at national and international conferences
  • Academic leadership in the coordination of the postgraduate leadership programmes
  • Participating in internal and external service rending and social impact programmes and activities and interventions relating to leadership
  • Serving on internal department, school, college university committees
  • Engaging in activities that will promote global department excellence and stature


Minimum requirements

  • A relevant Doctoral degree (NQF 10) with academic underpinning in behavioural science both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, but with a specialisation in Organisational Leadership.
  • A minimum of ten years working experience in the Higher Education environment.
  • Excellent teaching skills and knowledgeable in the field of organisational leadership development and leadership business coaching
  • A proven record of excellence in accredited scholarly research outputs in the field of organisational leadership.
  • A track record of Master and Doctoral students - graduated
