Job description
- Conduct in-depth research to identify and qualify potential donors, including individuals, businesses, foundations, and other philanthropic organisations.
- Collaborate with the Development Office team to understand specific fundraising goals and objectives.
- Reduce reputational risk associated with donor solicitation by managing donor relations outside the Development office. i.e., manage and document (record) staff and students’ interactions with donors.
- Work closely with the database analyst to collect and analyse data on possible donors' wealth, philanthropic interests, and affiliation to the University.
- Create comprehensive profiles and summaries for each prospect, emphasising critical data points.
- Assess the financial capability of prospects through the evaluation of assets, income, giving history, and public financial disclosures.
- Provide insights on how to leverage existing relationships and to cultivate new donors.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prospect research data in the donor database or Devman system and assist in prioritizing prospects based on their capacity and inclination to give.
- Regularly communicate with development and fundraising staff to align research efforts with fundraising strategies.
- Manage and operationalise the circulation of donor newsletters and assist with electronic and direct mail campaigns.
- Develop engagement briefs for high-level meetings with MEC and prospects/donors.
- Adhere to all ad hoc requests from management.
- Handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Information Management, Communications, Marketing or Social Science
- At least 3 years' of experience in prospect research
- At least 3 years' of experience in data analysis and information management
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Fundraising Environment.
- Possess exceptional knowledge of positioning the university as an institution worthy of support.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Project and time management skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
