Job description

School of Tourism and Hospitality develops future-fit leadership for the Tourism and Hospitality sector by providing both high quality programme offerings as well as facilities which host functions and events. The Kerzner@UJ is the commercial outlet of the School of Tourism & Hospitality, which provides services and contributes to the high quality teaching and learning environment which the students are exposed to.
 
 
Responsibilities:
 
 
General Management: 
 
  • Manage Operations of Johannesburg Business School Hospitality and oversee new business developments in relation to Food and Beverages service provided by TheKerzner@UJ
  • Ensure the optimal and productive utilization of the facility is maintained at all times
  • Product development and marketing
  • Host regular staff meetings
  • Annual Goal setting, strategies and implementation thereof 
 
Human Resource Management: 
 
  • Recruitment staff
  • Training and development of staff
  • Performance Management
  • Oversee employee relations and staff well-being
 
Liaison:
 
  • Ensure that the needs of the clients are understood and exceeded
  • Ensure events, facilities are marketed
  • Liaise with Academic HoD: Hospitality Management around entrepreneurship development
  • Liaise with UJ Clientele
  • Liaison with industry partners
 
Financial Management:
 
  • Ensure that financial controls are in place and maintained
  • Financial reporting
  • Preparation of budgets
  • Product and Pricing strategy
 
Training:
 
  • Managing the unique opportunities for Work- Integrated Learning-WIL, internships and entrepreneurship development
  • Facilitate optimal learning experience in WIL

Minimum requirements

  • Degree (NQF 7) in Hospitality or related field
  • 3 years’ experience in Food and Beverage Management, Banqueting
  • A minimum of 3 years' management experience
  • Experience in managing a Budget of a division/unit 
  • Proficient in MS Office Package
