Senior Lecturer (Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture: Department of Architecture)

Job description
- Present design studios, construction, and theory lectures and workshops at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Assess students and administer the modules.
- Assist with curriculum development, module- coordination, and administration in modules.
- Actively undertake research and creative productions that lead to research outcomes/publications.
- Participate in community engagement programs and projects
- Assist with administrative duties as determined by the Head of the Department or the Executive Dean
- Initiate, develop, and support research within the staff body
- Programme administration via the online platforms to the Faculty
Minimum requirements
- Relevant doctoral qualification in architecture or a relevant master’s qualifications with an exceptional scholarly experience in both teaching and research or exceptional professional experience supported by portfolios of evidence.
- At least three years of proven practice experience in the built environment or in lecturing at the tertiary level.
- Experience in the supervision of masters dissertations or theses
- Participation in national/international forums or academic service, organisational ability within the department/faculty/university.
- Evidence of community engagement where appropriate.
- Good language and communication skills
- Good computer and graphic skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel; CAD: Revit: Rhino
- Undertaking to further own academic qualifications and research output.
- Collaboration, collegiality, and active team player
- Willingness and ability to engage directly with research upon taking up office.
- Registration with SACAP
- Ability to relate teaching to research and creative practice or work and vice versa.
- Experience or ability to work within the strategic objectives of the university.
- Experience or ability to work with the concepts of Decolonisation and 4IR
- Familiarity with online learning platforms/ blended learning tools.
- Commitment to begin the PhD process upon appointment
