Job description
- Assists as directed in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems, such as plumbing, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, painting, paving and electrical.
- Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts’ modular offices and space (e.g., furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand power and specialty tools.
- Assist with furniture removals as assigned and diesel collection.
- Preparing job cards and other job-related documentation.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Adheres to health and safety regulations.
- Promptly and attentively respond to customer requests within established parameters and time frames.
- Effectively communicate with staff, students, and visitors.
- Transports goods or equipment as assigned.
Minimum requirements
- Matric or NQF level 4.
- Three to five (3-5) years of experience using technical skills in a commercial or industrial environment.
- Must be able to perform but not limited to the following skills: carpentry, plumbing, air-conditioning, electrical (assist facilities electrician), and painting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of work safety habits.
- Skilled at operating basic tools and equipment of assigned trade(s).
- Valid drivers' licence.
- Must have the basic proficiency of reading and writing of the English language.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team player.
- Basic computer skills
- Must be customer service oriented.
- Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards.
- Ability to use common tools.
- Ability to understand and follow directions as given.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Additional training in carpentry, electrical or plumbing programme preferred.
- Be in position to attend basic training related to the work.
