Position Summary

Job description
- To ensure that the assessment venues are prepared on time and at the furniture/equipment is at the correct venue.
- To ensure that venues are prepared for events according to the requirements of the event organiser
- Stacking and redistribution of furniture to offices and venues on request.
- Moving furniture and equipment between all 4 UJ campuses
- Moving all redundant furniture and equipment on campus to a designated area.
- Mantling and dismantling of furniture and equipment
- Ensure job cards are closed timeously
- Ensure the asset register is maintained (toolbox etc are kept in good condition)
- Driving as instructed by line manager to conduct general work and disposing of waste/refuge as and when required. Including assisting peers with driving upon request within the Campus Facilities Management environment. Pick up cleaners from the outside houses when required.
- Assisting with the stock at stores (Moving stock etc)
- Ensuring storeroom is stacked and set according to managers requirements
- Understand and ensure the implementation of the University Health & Safety policy, and emergency fire procedures.
- Report any faulty appliances, damaged equipment, or any potential hazard.
- Promote safe working practices within the university grounds and off-campus residences.
- Wear uniform and or protective clothing.
- To ensure all equipment, machinery and buildings are secure.
- To attend recommended training as per the employee’s personal developmental plan.
- Ensure you are trained on UJ Performance Management System
- Ensure you are knowledgeable on UJ policies and procedures.
- Employee must work within UJ policy and guidelines.

Minimum requirements
- Grade 10 or Vocational certificate (NQF Level 3)
- One year of job-related experience
- Driver’s license
- Knowledge of basic moving furniture and equipment.
- Professional driver’s permit (PDP)
- High responsiveness to moving.
- Ability to work physically under pressure and independently.
- Ability to follow instructions with good understanding.
- Respectful in interactions with clients/customers in the service field.
- Good communication skills.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Must have basic reading and writing skills
- Must be customer focused
