Job description
The Johannesburg Business School (JBS) has embraced the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and repositioned itself to equip current and future leaders to deal with the digital transformation resonating throughout the world.
The digital revolution encompasses shifts in the mind-sets and paradigms and change management will be imperative as there is a blurring between the disciples of leadership, engineering and the creative arts globally. JBS is therefore established as a digital business school situated within a globally competitive university ready to address societal developmental needs.- Digital Transformation

- Teaching and supervising postgraduates studies on digital technologies or related fields.
- Conduct theoretical-conceptual and empirical research on the effects of digital transformation in a competitive and globalized world and generate high impact research papers.
- Develop international cooperation as well as engage with industry, and secure funding for research and development on impact of digital transformation on business, people and society.
- Drive development of industry relevant 4IR applications.
- Remain current on digital transformation, methodologies and protocols to provide training to stakeholders.
- Fulfil academic citizenship and leadership roles.
- Meaningful contributions through community engagement.
- Forge and maintain internal and external professional networks.
Minimum requirements
- A doctoral degree (NQF 10) in Finance or relevant field.
- Exposure in AI technologies and its applications, including related programming languages and software tools.
- A track record in international cooperation.
- A track record in engaging with industry, and - must have been involved in securing industry funding recently.
- Exposure of digital transformation on business, people and society.
- Proven track record of excellence in accredited research outputs, supervision (masters and PhD to completion) and in the teaching and assessment at university level.
- A significant research portfolio demonstrated by a sustained research record in the last 8 years.
- NRF rating or the ability of the candidate to meet the NRF rating requirements to apply within the next cycle.
- Deep understanding of South African and African business education.
- Exposure in multi-disciplinary fields.
- Exposure in Master’s and Doctoral coordination.
- An excellent understanding of business education.
- Ability to work with academic faculty and to facilitate high levels of performance.
- Ability to relate to the student experience of studying towards a leadership qualification.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstate ability to problem solve.
- Building and maintaining productive relationships.
- Excellent organisational, planning and multi-tasking skills.
- The ability to work autonomously with personal drive and energy and to take responsibility and be held accountable for role outcomes.
- Excellent attention to detail whilst understanding the bigger picture and being able to communicate the same to senior staff and external stakeholders.
- Excellent delegation skills.
- Flexibility, tenacity, resilience and assertiveness.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills and the ability to adapt communication to a range of audiences.
- Ability to operate and cooperate with international partners.
- A background in digital transformation in business leadership as a subject matter expert.
- An NRF rating would be advantageous.
- Ten (10) years' experience in higher education and of which five (5) years must have been in academic leadership and management
- Knowledge of higher education regulations, policies and procedures.
- Commercial/corporate business experience will serve as a recommendation.
