Job description
“Please note that the University is obligated, in terms of recent amendments to the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act 2021 (Act 13 of 2021), to assess all prospective employees (including applicants) against the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO). The outcome of such an assessment may have an impact upon possible employment with the University.
The Department of Accounting is a dynamic department aimed at developing accountants and auditors, as well as the future business leaders of industry, locally and globally. We strive to be innovative in cutting edge subject development and research. The Department is actively recruiting for an Associate Professor to join its dynamic team.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Coordination and/or development of modules and programmes in Auditing.
- Assisting in the implementation of the departmental research strategy performing and encouraging research and fulfilling a mentoring role.
- Supervision of Postgraduate students at Honours, Masters and Doctoral level.
- Lecturing on an undergraduate or postgraduate level.
- Initiating and participating in community engagement projects and activities.
Minimum requirements
- A relevant Doctoral degree (NQF 10) in Accountancy.
- Good track record of research as demonstrated among others by publications and citations in recognised journals and conference proceedings.
- Supervision record at Masters’ and/or Doctoral level.
- Working experience in the Higher Education environment.
- Knowledgeable in the field of Auditing, Governance and Ethics.
- Proven experience in developing societal impact, evidenced by national and global visibility.
- CA (SA) or CIMA
- Computer Literacy.
- Proficiency in English.
- Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal relationships and a team player.
- Analytical and critical thinking
- Experience with SAICA accredited programmes.
- Multidisciplinary experience
