Job description

Responsibilities:

Support and Maintenance
  • Setup and operate audio visual equipment for university events.
  • Setup video equipment that enable streaming where applicable.
  • Assist in sourcing support events services for major UJ events
  • Troubleshoot and resolve AV system problems during events.
  • Adhere to the Incident and Service Request processes.
  • Adhere to the SLA for Incidents and Service Requests.
  • Assist in the identification of event equipment that require upgrades
  • Ensure proper functionality and physical safety of the equipment temporarily and permanently deployed in venues
  • Collaborate with ICS teams to efficiently and effectively fulfil events requests.
  • Ensure safety of AV store rooms and equipment therein by controlling access to the store rooms, recording and uploading inventory registers.
  • To provide technical support to specialised production and facilities companies during events when necessary.
  • Operate audio visual equipment with the aim of provisioning high quality standard events services.
  • Video/audio conference setup and support. Best efforts should be made to ensure all sites are connected on time and receiving/transmitting good audio/video.

Conduct General Administration
  • Ensure the safekeeping of AV equipment in events venues.
  • To maintain records of equipment usage (when applicable), to make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment when necessary.
  • Proactive maintenance/reporting to ensure all AV equipment is always of the highest standard and functioning correctly.
  • Conduct Venue and AV Equipment Audits (weekly, monthly, and quarterly and event readiness).
  • Perform any task as delegated within the AVS sub-unit

Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge
  • Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
  • Attending tradeshows and AV industry training

Minimum requirements

  • Matric/Grade 12
  • Audio Visual Design/Installation certificate(s), preferably Inform Comm AV Essential, AVIXA AV Essentials, SACIA, Extron, Crestron, Kramer certifications.
  • AV/Event Management certificate (i.e., audio/visual/lighting/theatre production)
  • At least two years of experience in Event Support
  • At least two years of experience in a similar environment
  • 1 year sound technician experience including setting up and running analogue or digital sound-desks.
  • Valid Driver’s license

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision to provide Audiovisual Events support

  • Must be physically able to handle equipment and work on ladders and on heights above 2 meters.

  • Electronics Certificate
  • Inform Comm: AV Essential GEN 111-112 (CTS Prep)
  • Crestron: Systems D, Control Systems Programming (Crestron Tool box)
  • Any other AV systems maintenance qualification will be considered.

Working Hours: Campus APK
Weekdays:
Morning: 07:30-15:30
Afternoon/Evening: 10:00-22:00
Weekends and Public Holidays: 07:00-15:00
