Job description

The College of Business and Economics is recruiting for a Coordinator II: College Marketing. The incumbent will manage and coordinate marketing within the     College of Business and Economics.
 
Responsibilities:
 
The responsibilities and duties of the successful incumbent include the following:
 
  • CBE Marketing Strategic Plan
    • Booklet Annual Updates: Collaborate with CBE Marketing Committees to develop, update, and present the annual marketing booklet for approval by the Deans and CLT.
    • Monthly Reports: Prepare and submit monthly marketing reports for review by CLT, highlighting events, guest lectures, and other key activities.
    • 4IR Reporting: Provide UJ with updates on 4IR activities as part of the designated monthly reporting.
  • Branding and Compliance

    • Ensure adherence to UJ branding guidelines for all CBE Schools, Departments, and Research Hubs across social media platforms and promotional materials.
    • Oversee CBE’s social media compliance with UJ regulations and standards.
  • Event Coordination for First-Year Students

    • CBE First-Year Experience (FYE): Coordinate marketing for FYE initiatives, including the “Orange Carpet” initiative.
    • Executive Dean’s Welcome Event: Assist with the planning and promotion of the annual welcome event.
    • Check-in Campaigns: Manage check-in events before June and November exams starting in 2023.
    • Peer Mentors Ceremony: Provide event support for the annual Peer Mentors Acknowledgement Ceremony.
  • Student Recruitment Marketing

    • Prospective Students: Manage targeted campaigns, including UJ Open Day, Grade 9 Open Day, and other expos.
    • Final Year Undergraduate Students: Run the "Why Honours Studies" campaign to encourage students to pursue further studies.
    • Postgraduate Marketing: Develop and implement marketing campaigns for postgraduate programs, in collaboration.
    • International Students: Coordinate marketing efforts with UJ’s Internationalization Office to target global students, in partnership with CLT.
  • CBE Website Management

    • Updates and Maintenance: Regularly update and maintain the CBE Schools, Departments, and Research Hubs' websites.
    • Marketing Videos: Manage the production and distribution of marketing videos.
    • Brochure & Flyer Development: Oversee the creation and annual review of undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education brochures.
  • Promotional Material Management

    • Design and manage posters, banners, and other promotional materials for CBE events and campaigns.
    • Coordinate promotional content for CBE’s LinkedIn page.
  • CBE Newsflash and Awards

    • Newsflash Updates: Draft and distribute CBE Newsflash items, highlighting staff promotions, new hires, and achievements.
    • Awards Announcements: Share awards and accolades through UJ AppLOUD, student newsletters, and weekly VC Notes.
    • Annual Awards Ceremony: Assist in the coordination of the CBE Staff and Students Awards Ceremony.
  • Social Media
    • Manage and maintain the organization’s social media accounts, ensuring consistent branding and messaging across all platforms.
    • Create, schedule, and post engaging content, including updates on events, news, and promotions.
    • Monitor social media trends, engage with followers, and respond to inquiries or comments.
    • Track and analyze social media performance metrics, providing insights for improvement.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field. (NQF 7)
  • 3 years' job-related experience
  • Proven experience in strategic marketing planning and execution.
  • Excellent project management and event coordination skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing, social media management, and design tools.

  • Ability to collaborate across multiple departments and stakeholders.
  • High level of creativity and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with marketing software, content management systems, and social media platforms
 
Recommendations:
 
  • Familiarity with higher education marketing is an asset.
