Job description
“Please note that the University is obligated, in terms of recent amendments to the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act 2021 (Act 13 of 2021), to assess all prospective employees (including applicants) against the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO). The outcome of such an assessment may have an impact upon possible employment with the University.
- Supervise International Admissions:
- Client Services: Provide correct and up-to-date information to prospective and current students, handle inquiries efficiently, and support recruitment efforts.
- Application Selection: Oversee the selection process for undergraduate international applications, provide training on credential interpretation, ensure adherence to timelines and university policies, and manage verification of credentials.
- Student Clearance: Ensure compliance with university policies and the Immigration Act, and supervise the update of residence permits.
- Welfare: Oversee the provision of welfare services for international students.
- Stakeholder Liaison:
- Ensure effective communication regarding international applicants and students.
- Represent the Division for Global Engagement at Faculty meetings.
- Assist in obtaining Matriculation Exemption Certificates for submission.
- Confirm admissions or registration as requested.
- Stay updated on changes to the Immigration Act affecting student registration.
- Represent the Division in meetings.
- Coordinate with the Student Enrolment Centre and the Division for Institutional Planning on application handling and statistics.
- Assist with Exemption applications and maintain relationships with the Board.
- Provide training on Matriculation Board regulations.
- Facilitate training for International Admission Officers.
- Keep the University informed of SAQA developments.
- Organize workshops and assist with the evaluation of international credentials for distinguished Professors.
- Provision of International Applicants Statistics and Reports:
- Monitoring: Continuously track and analyze applications, admissions, and registration numbers.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor progress to achieve set targets for both formal (undergraduate andpostgraduate) and non-formal programmes.
Minimum requirements
- Honours Degree (NQF 8) in Governance and Administration or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the public higher education sector.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in academic administration related to international students.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in international student admissions processes.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in international credentials interpretation and evaluation.
- Proven knowledge and experience in international student marketing and recruitment.
- Proficiency in ITS, Perceptive Content, HEDA, and MS Office tools, including Excel.
- Proficiency in international basic education curricula and systems.
- Strong leadership abilities
