Job description
- Establishing and managing research projects focused on specific niches within the department.
- Serves as a statistical and computing resource for other departmental team members.
- Managing and coordinating primary data collection, including fieldwork and dataset management
- Manage aspects of the data repository, including data cleaning and verification, and data distribution to other scientists and collaborators
- Work directly with academics and postgraduate students on statistical and data science projects.
- Address the data needs of academics and postgraduate students, identifying and applying computational and statistical tools, and advising and training researchers in using these tools.
- Often works on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing short and long-term projects to meet deadlines and faculty needs.
- Learns new technologies and tools as needed.
- Publishing research outputs in top-tier journals in Transport Economics and/or Supply Chain Management
- Presenting research results at national and international conferences
- Providing postgraduate supervision and mentorship to students
- Writing grant proposals and securing funding for research projects
- Participating in internal and external programmes activities and interventions
- Serving on internal departmental, school, college university committees
- Responsible for other duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements
- A Ph.D. in Transport Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline
- Experience in study design, in particular, survey methodology
- Statistical programming skills for data management and analysis
- Experience with R, STATA, SPSS and other relevant software
- Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals and secure research funding.
- Proven working experience in the Higher Education environment.
- An excellent academic reputation evidenced by a sustained record of research output.
- Srong quantitative and/ or qualitative data analysis, written, and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Solutions oriented.
- Collaborative team player
- Knowledge of the online learning environment
- Previous exposure to management of portfolios within a higher education environment
- Evidence of visibility within the academic community
- Supervision (to completion) of Master’s and PhD students
