Manager I (P8) (Facilities Management Division: Maintenance Services)

Job description
- Implement specific maintenance strategies, policies, and tactics, and to schedule tasks with reference to the maintenance plan and philosophies.
- Perform the duties of manager as specifically described and defined in the OHS Act to comply with the regulations and act and to ensure that employees work in a safe environment.
- Plan and schedule task and assigns to relevant employees.
- Compile and submit reports monthly and when required.
- Implement performance and development management system in the division
- Provide constant feedback to the line manager & clients on restoration of operations.
- Perform stand-by duties as and when required.
- Report to the Maintenance Manager on all maintenance related matters.
- Conduct inspection of facility, carpentry equipment on site, identify area of risk and report back for rectification.
- Compile an asset register and maintain the register with reference to infrastructure, installation, equipment, tools etc.
- Ensure that staff is accredited to perform their tasks as required in legislation and for quality assurance purposes.
- Ensure quality of work & timeous completion of all field requests.
- Ensure that contractors adhere to the OHS Act standards and UJ operational requirements.
- Perform mentoring and coaching of staff in order to ensure effective skills development and a safe working environment.
- Train subordinates in the division.
- Ensure that the infrastructure is optimally available for use by clients.
Minimum requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification (NQF 7) in the technical field
- 2 to 3 years’ job-related experience in the maintenance environment,
- Three years’ Management experience is essential.
- Professional certification with 3 to 5 years’ job-related experience, or
- Relevant experience in Building, Carpentry or Plumbing maintenance equipment
- A valid code 8 drivers’ license
- Must be computer Literate
- Excellent written, verbal, listening and interpersonal communication skills.
- Technical knowledge with a strong focus on work standards and customer, demonstrate ability to work in a team, analyses & resolves problems.
- Action orientated, calm & composed, established technical knowledge, & team orientated disposition.
- Ability to work under pressure, travel within various sites, work over.
- Plan effectively for both the short and the longer term.
- Delegate duties to others and direct people as they work.
- Manage own time and the time of others.
- Identify and resolve problems.
- To monitor and assess performance of self and other individuals to make improvements or take corrective action.
- Pay attention to detail and work accurately.
- Manage a budgetary process and financial systems.
- Apply accounting principles in practice.
- Willingness to undergo further skills training.
- Willingness to work overtime and to do standby when required.
- Computer literate, proficiency in MS word, MS Excel & MS Outlook (Intermediate skill-level).
