Job description
“Please note that the University is obligated, in terms of recent amendments to the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act 2021 (Act 13 of 2021), to assess all prospective employees (including applicants) against the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO). The outcome of such an assessment may have an impact upon possible employment with the University.
- Effectively manage the Audio-Visual Teams in delivering a speedy and efficient AV services across campuses
- Ensure that individual performance measures/agreements are in place.
- Coach and mentor staff to achieve agreed performance targets.
- Develop a training and skills development plan for staff.
- Conduct performance reviews with staff as per the Performance Management Policy.
- Hold regular team meetings with staff.
- Document and configuration management of the AV environment.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of AV Service Delivery which is in line with ICS ICT Operational Processes
- Oversee the repairing of malfunctioning of AV equipment.
- Design, implement and maintain the AV environment blueprint.
- Enable and maintain proactive maintenance of the environment.
- Monitor SLA performance for campus and off-campus AV clients.
- Assist in tracking SLA breaches and putting in place corrective to improve IT service delivery.
- Collate and present monthly SLA performance reports to ICS senior management and key campus stakeholders in collaboration with the Service Delivery Manager.
- Track and follow up on AV request made by internal and external clients.
- Be the immediate point of escalation for all AV issues from clients.
- Build and maintain strong and productive relationships with Campus stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain an AV Technological roadmap with the user’s and Manager: Service Delivery
- Always represent ICS in a positive manner.
- Assist in scoping and implementation of AV projects.
- Ensure timely, concise, and effective communication with campus stakeholders regarding AV Service issues.
- Conduct monthly service reviews with individual stakeholders to understand service issues and identify project requirements and potential collaboration opportunities.
Asset and Financial Management
- Maintain an updated register of IT assets on the Campus.
- Plan, compile, manage and execute the AVU budget.
Minimum requirements
- Degree in Electronics/IT/Audio Visual (NQF7)
- ITIL v3 Foundation
- Any other AV systems design, installation and maintenance qualification will be considered
- Middle Management (3 years)
- IT Service Management (3 years)
- Support of AV equipment in a higher education environment (5 years)
- ITIL Knowledge
- Knowledge of Inform Comm certification principles
- Clear understanding of Crestron AV equipment programming and support
- Clear understanding of AMX equipment programming and support
- Clear understanding of Polycom AV equipment
- Any other AV systems design, installation and maintenance understanding will be considered

- Inform Comm: AV Essential, GEN III-112, 3, CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I (certificates valid for at least 2024 but preferably 2-3 years)
- Crestron: Systems D, Control Systems Programming (certificates valid for at least 2024)
- AMX: Systems Design, Control Systems Programming (certificates valid for at least 2024)
- Polycom: IP and Data Networking, Sound Structure
- Support of AV equipment in a higher education environment
- Middle Management
- Might be required to work outside normal working hours from time to time.
