Job description
- Designing, teaching, lecturing, facilitating, coordinating, and assessing the Management Modules in the extended diplomas in the College of Business and Economics and the Humanities Faculty.
- Ensuring the efficient functioning of the portfolio and managing all lecturers, teaching and learning activities and resources concerned with the portfolio.
- Ensuring the development and effective delivery of the modules in the portfolio and foundational provisioning.
- Identifying and addressing areas of difficulty by designing intervention strategies with other coordinators that are in line with student needs.
- Participating in and contributing to Academic Development initiatives within the Centre.
- Assisting with the implementation of new Extended Curriculum Programmes (ECPs).
- Liaising with departments concerning the extended Management/Humanities foundational provision modules in the ECPs.
- Assisting with funding applications and reporting to the Department of Higher Education and Training.
- Taking responsibility for certain management and administrative responsibilities related to the ECPs.
- Coordinate materials development and/or improvement with the College of Business and Economics, the Humanities Faculty. and relevant stakeholders.
- Assisting with any other related duties as required by the Head.
Minimum requirements
- A Master in a Business-related field or an MBA.
- A specialist in Mathematical and computer literacies.
- A teaching qualification OR a minimum of two years’ experience in teaching in a Senior Secondary Schooling context, especially in Logistics, Transport and/or Management Services.
- A minimum of 3 years’ lecturing experience in an academic development/Extended Curriculum Programme in Higher Education.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in people management.
- Proven knowledge and understanding of the challenges in the South African schooling system.
- Proven experience in developing learner materials and moderation.
- Proven working knowledge of effective teaching, assessment, and classroom pedagogy for underprepared students.
- A PhD and a good publication track record.
- Proven computer skills at Advanced levels.
- Good organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Good problem solving and numeracy skills.
- A flexible and versatile team player who will work and excel in any work environment.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Reliability and integrity.
- Highly organised and efficient with excellent follow-through abilities.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Ability to cope under pressure.
