The College of Business and Economics is recruiting a Faculty Officer III to support the Head of College Administration in the execution of her duties. Set in a fast-paced environment, the role demands outstanding planning and organisational skills in rendering excellent academic administrative support. The Faculty Officer III ensures that the lifecycle activities of a postgraduate student are carried out operationally as delineated by the HCA.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Ensure that the lifecycle activities of a student are carried out operationally as delineated by the Head of College Administration (HFA).
  • Maintaining and signing off the academic structure, pre-and co requisites and yearbook.
  • Handle queries related to applications, registrations, examinations and graduation information.
  • Select student applicants, PG Diploma and Hons programmes on PG ARS and set up of Icomms letters on ITS.
  • Sign-off the registration approval of students, including cancellations and additions of module(s) and programmes.
  • Source all documentation pertaining to the lifecycle of the student. 
  • Plan and oversee the logistics related to the exam planning schedule for Postgraduate modules for the College.
  • Uploading, importing, verifying and publishing examination results.
  • F7 appeals committee member for Postgraduate studies
  • Process requests for SSA exams (sick, special and aegrotat).
  • Act as custodian of the current students’ academic record.
  • Assist the Faculty Officers in the domain with assessing and correcting the quality of Academic Administration data captured for a student record.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders form departments regarding the specific portfolio of qualifications assigned.
  • Ensure efficiency and effectiveness of faculty Academic Administration.
  • Assist the Head of College Administration (HCA) with risk management related to the operational academic  administration activities of PG students.

Minimum requirements

  • A relevant degree at NQF level 7.
  • 5 years’ academic administrative experience in a faculty within a higher education institution.
  • 5 years’ extensive ITS experience in all life-cycles pertaining to academic administration and student data.
  • A minimum of 2 years' MAMS and Perceptive content experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of UJ Academic Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Faculty rules and Regulations.
  • Knowledge of UJ Policies and Procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of statutory body requirements (DHET, SAQA, CHE).
  • Proven computer skills in Windows and MS Office
