Job description
- Learning technologies
- Mathematics education
- Natural, Physical and Life Sciences education
- Involvement in teaching (contact, blended and online) at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Play a leading role in online teaching innovation
- Supervise student research at Master’s and Doctoral level
- Involvement in national and international research projects
- Procure funding for research
- Involvement in core activities of the department such as academic administration, research, short-course development, marketing, and community projects
Minimum requirements
- Applicable PhD/DEd/DPhil degree
- Teaching experience in Natural Sciences and/or FET Life Sciences and Physical Sciences teacher education at the tertiary level
- Accredited research output (in local and international journals and books/ book chapters)
- Experience in postgraduate supervision
- A Master’s degree in Natural Sciences Education or a related field
- At least 5 years' teaching experience in FET Life Sciences and Physical Sciences at school level and/or in teacher education at the tertiary level
- A track record of exemplary teaching
- Excellent written and verbal English communications skills
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Good interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues
- Well-developed scholarship of teaching and learning
- Adept at teaching and development of materials for online education
- A defined research trajectory that has resulted in good quality peer-reviewed publications in accredited journals
- Collaboration with leading scholars in science education
- Teaching experience in Natural Sciences and/or FET Life Sciences and Physical Sciences at school level and/or in teacher education at the tertiary level
- Knowledge of and/or experience in the higher education sector
