Job description
- Teaching methodology in the field of English studies for high school at the undergraduate level.
- Teaching English for Teachers as a core module in the undergraduate teacher education programme.
- Teaching Academic Language for Educators at undergraduate module.
- Teaching English language, literacy and literature at Honours level.
- Supervising student research at Honours, Masters and Doctoral level in English language, literacy and literature.
- Involvement in and management of research projects, including procuring research funding.
- Research in the field of English language, literacy and literature.
- Involvement in core activities of the department, such as academic administration, research, short-course development, evaluation of students during WIL, marketing, and community service projects.
Minimum requirements
Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer:
- A PhD/ D.Ed Degree in Education with a focus on English studies/ educational linguistics
- A track record of good teaching abilities at tertiary level
- Accredited research output in Education.
- Experience with Masters and Doctoral supervision
- Experience with teaching English in the Senior and FET phase in high schools
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good planning and administration skills.
- Good coordination skills.
- Ability to monitor and coach student performance and provide critical feedback in an objective and professional manner
- Teaching experience in higher education (university) in this field
- A defined research trajectory that has resulted in good-quality peer-reviewed publications.
- Successful supervision of Masters and PhD students
- Experience with teaching quantitative research methodology
