Manager II: Competitive Sport Club (P7) (UJ Sport Division)
Position Summary

Job description
- Strategic planning, development and management of the assigned sport code(s) in line with the UJ strategic plan.
- Provide daily administrative support (such as booking of facilities, transport, accommodation for all players and managers and coaches) for the allocated sporting code(s).
- Attend internal sport programmes, management events, internal and external competition fixtures and ensure that facilities are booked and suitable for the sport.
- Manage and drive collaboration activities with internal and external stakeholders including community engagement projects.
- Prepare, manage and be accountable for the respective sport club(s) budget, attend to day-to-day financial requests for which the position is responsible for as outlined by the University and UJ Sport.
- Ensure that all arrangements are in place for both the participants and supporters according to the expectations of the University and UJ Sport.
- Generate third stream income for the allocated sport code(s) through fundraising initiatives.
- Ensure compliance to legislation and policies of UJ and regulations of mother bodies (sport federations).
- Ensure clear and timely communication of sport news and events in consultation with line manager and Communications Coordinator.
- Represent UJ Sport at meetings of committees and or associations for the sport both internally and externally and where applicable.
- Negotiate partnerships and contract terms beneficial to the club and the university.
- Coordinate recruitment and retainment of athletes for the allocated sport code(s).
- Develop marketing campaigns to promote student-athletes’ activities and university projects.
- Responsible for the recruitment and training of team support personnel including coaches, trainers, and other support personnel such as medical professionals, therapists, or training specialists.
Minimum requirements
- 3 year qualification degree/B-tech in sport management and/or in management
- 3 Years experience in sport as a participant and/or administration.
- 3 years proven knowledge and experience for sport coordination.
- 3 Years proven experience in event management.
- Experience in working with physically disabled people.
- A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with people at all levels in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
- Effective thought leadership and management as demonstrated through writing, presentations and/or participation in professional organisations.
- Strong relationship-building and consulting skills.
- Strong interpersonal relationships; and
- Analytical thinking
