Job description
“Please note that the University is obligated, in terms of recent amendments to the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act 2021 (Act 13 of 2021), to assess all prospective employees (including applicants) against the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO). The outcome of such an assessment may have an impact upon possible employment with the University.
Minimum requirements
- Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning, or Architecture and Planning or Urban Design or Equivalent.
- Completed or registration for PhD studies is an added advantage.
- Registered with relevant Professional Bodies, SACPLAN or SACAP as a Professional Planner, Architect Planner.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
- Good practical industry experience accompanied with a Portfolio of work.
- Record of research and at least 3 publications in accredited journals and peer-reviewed conferences.
- Technology savvy and ability to work with ArcGIS/QGIS, AutoCAD, ARCHICAD, Revit and Autodesk software packages.
- With sharp and robust high level of communication skills
- Sound knowledge of planning law
- Self-motivated, leadership skills
- Demonstrate sound work ethics and punctuality.
- Good interpersonal relations and effective organisational skills
- Class and student management skills
- Recent lecturing experience at undergraduate degree levels would be highly beneficial.
- Highly technical with proven practical experience.
- Proven research capabilities and administration.
- Proven ability to attract research funds.
- Postgraduate student supervisory experience.
