Job description

UJ is keen to interview a highly motivated and experienced Manager of Warehousing, Logistics, and Distribution to oversee and optimize our supply chain operations. This critical role will ensure the efficient and effective management of our warehouse, distribution network, and asset management processes
 
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Warehouse Operations : Oversee all warehouse functions (receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, returns), optimize layout and workflow, manage inventory, and ensure safety/security compliance.  
  • Logistics and Distribution : Manage transportation planning, carrier selection, route optimization, contract negotiation, shipment tracking, and distribution efficiency improvements. Stay abreast of industry best practices.  
  • Budgeting & Reporting : Develop and manage the warehouse budget, track expenses, and prepare performance reports.  
  • Asset Management : Manage the lifecycle of physical assets (moveable and immoveable), including receipt, quality control, inventory allocation, register maintenance, allocation to asset holders, monitoring, verification, and reporting. Promote sound asset management practices and contribute to policy development.  
  • Stakeholder Management & Liaison : Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including service departments and faculties.  
  • People Management : Manage staff development, talent management, performance management, grievances, discipline, and terminations. Foster a culture of good governance, customer service, and high performance.  
  • Governance & Compliance : Implement governance frameworks, ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and UJ policies, manage audits, and submit required reports. 

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Assets, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.  
  • Two to three (2-3) years of job-related experience.  
  • Five (5) years' experience in a Supply Chain Management environment.  
  • Experience working with ERP systems, including knowledge of Supply Chain Management modules.  
  • Knowledge of warehousing and distribution principles and procedures.  
  • Experience in a managerial or supervisory position.  
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, logistics principles, and safety regulations.

  • Proficiency in warehouse management software.
  • Forklift certification. 
 
Working Conditions: 
 
  • May need to travel as and when required
