Job description
- Ensure operational support with the execution of all events and activities at UJ sports facilities by following the correct procedures.
- Collectively organise and manage all UJ sport facilities in conjunction with relevant UJ staff.
- Ensure compliance with sport federations’ regulations and legal requirements about facilities and events.
- Strategic guidance for the development of UJ sport facilities.
- Sport inventory management and updating.
- Generation of 3rd stream income through the commercialization of, and marketing strategies of UJ Sport facilities internally and externally.
- Booking and security management of all UJ Sport assets (movable and non-movable)
- Plan, schedule, track and report weekly link, floating, route and access delivery against targets.
- Manage Project teams and delegate Task.
- Identify and manage facility project dependencies.
- Identify potential crises, devise contingency plans.
- Effectively allocate available resources and determine if additional resources will be required.
- Manage project Financials: Forecast vs actual
- Implement and monitor Risk Management Strategies to continually reduce risk to acceptable levels.
- Planning, designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the organization.
- Guide the structured provision of quality sport facilities for internal stakeholders on all levels – and on all campuses.
- Plan and support the upgrading of sport facilities on the respective campuses,
- Provision (training and competition) facilities for all Sports and social recreational events for internal stakeholders.
- Internationalization through international certification of Sport facilities to comply with international standards and national legislation requirements. (Events Act of 2010)
- Managing Sport Facility Grading process to comply with Event and Facility legislation
- Managing booking process of facilities according to correct procedures and communication
- Governance - Policy management
- Future Facility Development plan
- Plan and Manage Facility Maintenance programmes
- Security - Ensure and monitor security needs of all relevant role players to ensure stakeholder safety at all Sport Facilities and Events.
- Monitor the arrangement of security for participants at sport facilities for all scheduled training and competition activities.
- Oversee Marketing and Communication for the department
Minimum requirements
- A relevant Honours Degree qualification or equivalent at a level of (NQF 8) with an additional qualification preferably coupled with a strong Facility, Operations, Marketing and Fundraising background.
- Minimum of 7-10 years relevant working experience in Operations, Communication, Marketing, and Fundraising environment.
- A Business Management qualification such as MBA or MBL will be an added advantage or Executive Education Program.
- Strong facility, project management skills and risk analysis
- The ability to interpret market reports and develop market penetration strategies.
- Relevant experience in managing a facility and operations portfolio in a university environment.
- Risk management: experience in the identification, assessment, and management of project risks.
- Capable of training, supervising, and managing staff in facility and project management environment.
- Proven record of accomplishment of delivering projects within defined timelines under high pressure.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety act.
- Knowledge of the Sport and Recreation act.
- Project budgeting and reporting.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with people at all levels in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment;
- Effective thought leadership and management as demonstrated through writing, presentations and/or participation in professional organisations;
- Strong relationship-building and consulting skills;
- Strong interpersonal relationships; and
- Analytical thinking
- Facility and Project Management exposure
- Certificate/Diploma in Facility/and or Project Management
- Space and asset management with reference to AutoCAD drawing.
