Job description
- Teaching undergraduate students using diverse methods in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
- Actively involved in core activities of the research centre such as planning and conducting research, administration, and external research funding applications.
- Supervise postgraduate student's projects and actively participate in the research focus areas of the centre, producing research outputs, engaging collaborations and conference presentations.
- Facilitate research within the domain of photodynamic therapy, cancer stem cells, photobiomodulation etc.
- Overseeing laboratory operations assisting with laboratory planning and organization.
- Promoting research and recruiting suitable candidates for post-graduate studies at the Laser Research Centre.
- Maintaining a scholarly profile in line with position in an academic department.
- Involvement in community engagement.
Minimum requirements
- PhD qualification in Biological/Life Sciences.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in research related to Photodynamic therapy and or Photobiomodulation.
- Experience in teaching at university level and/or 3 years' of postdoctoral experience.
- Involvement in community engagement.
- Previous or current appointment as an executive committee member, board member, or similar high-level leadership position within international research organizations or associations.
- Excellent command in the field of photodynamic therapy, cancer stem cells and photobiomodulation.
- Excellent written and verbal English communications skills.
- Teaching skills and good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to self-manage own research group.
- Enthusiasm and passion for education, research, and community engagement.
- The ability to function independently as well as in a team.
- Good time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
- NRF rating.
- Research experience in photodynamic therapy, photobiomodulation, cancer stem cells, nanotechnology, natural product research, 3D culture, spectroscopy, microscopy and imaging.
- Innovative teaching techniques and research project designing for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- A track record of postgraduate research supervision and publication.
- Previous experience in appropriate research field.
- Previous experience in appropriate lecturing subjects.
- Proven leadership experience in executive or strategic roles within international research organizations or associations.
