Job description

Management Accounting is a department within the Financial Governance and Control division. The department is mainly responsible for the budgeting process, monthly financial reporting (institutional and commercial entities), utilities financial administration and reporting.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Processing payments of the university’s utility accounts.
  • Reconciliations of the utility accounts.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Resolve queries with service providers.
  • Enforce university policy and procedures.
  • Prepare relevant and accurate monthly reports as per relevant reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare and process journals for review by the Senior Manager: Management Accounting.
  • Monitor monthly actual expenditure against budgets, identify variances and ensure that the necessary follow up action is taken.
  • Assist with the annual corporate budgeting process for the University.
  • Assist with business case viability.
  • Assist with statutory audit preparations to ensure an efficient, effective, and successful external audit.
  • Assist with all other audits and external reviews, when necessary.
  • Ad Hoc tasks.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Management Accounting or Financial Management (NQF 7).
  • Minimum three (3) years of job-related experience.
  • Strong reconciliation experience.
  • Experience with COJ Invoicing and Reporting.
  • Auditing/Analyzing of financial transactions experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance principles and procedures.
  • Experience in computerised financial systems (preferably in Oracle and IDU system experience).
  • Computer skills (MS Office and other relevant computer packages, in particular).
 
Recommendations:
 
  • May be required to travel between campuses as and when required.
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours as and when required.
  • Power BI exposure.
