Job description

Responsibilities:

Management:

• Management of the Physiotherapist services within UJ Sport
• Mentor Physiotherapist students as part of the Work Integrated Learning programme

Sustainability through innovation (Competitive participation and Implementation):

• Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully serve the Physiotherapy Rehabilitation processes of UJ Sports Athletes:
• Identify the resources (personnel, time, money, equipment, etc) required to provide excellent services.
• Utilise specialist resources and equipment.
• Create and coordinate work integrated learning opportunities in collaboration with other institutions.
• Identify research opportunities within the field of injury rehabilitation and injury prevention.
• Develop forms and records to document all activities so that all information is appropriately documented and secured.
• Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the division on the progress.
• Review the quality of the work completed on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the standards.
• Quarterly and annual report writing
• Do research to keep up to date with new techniques and technologies available for treating injuries.

Fundraising:

• Support the Unit in the fundraising project that they have identified and committed on doing. 

Public Leadership:

• Assist and maintain strategic internal and external partnerships.
• Liaise with local, provincial, regional and national sport structures.

Good Governance (Risk Management and mitigation of risks)

• Identify and report risks within the environment.
• Notify the Line Manager of any equipment that is faulty.
• Valid CPR and First aid certification.
• Adhere to the ethical guideline of HPCSA, South African Physiotherapy Association (SAPA), and Physiotherapy Association of South Africa. 

Professional Development:

• Attendance of development workshops as per the agreed performance development Plan.




Minimum requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or BSc Physiotherapy qualification (NQF Level 7), preferably with Sport Physiotherapy (SPT) and Orthopaedic Manipulation Therapy (OMT) certificate or equivalent
• Two (2) to three (3) years of working experience and must be a registered Physiotherapist, specializing in sports injuries.
• Up-to-date knowledge of health and safety and sports-related safety measures
• Computer literate and familiar with the MS Office suite
• HPCSA and SAPA registration with valid malpractice insurance
• A valid driver’s license.
