Job description

Responsibilities:
 
The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible to lead a team of Accounts Payable Officers to ensure accurate and timeous payments of invoices for all good and services rendered as per agreed terms.
 
The Incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to:
 
  • In-depth knowledge of Forex requirements and payment process
  • Liaising with the Forex Bank
  • Check all invoices and validate them on the Oracle system for payment
  • Check and sign all reconciliations
  • Resolving queries timeously
  • Ensuring all audit deadlines are met
  • Follow up on any outstanding invoices
  • Liaise with Suppliers and end-user in a professional manner
  • Take personal responsibility for correcting problems
  • Respond to customer queries and provide solutions
  • Power-point Presentations
  • Strong on Excel
  • Accruals
  • Complies with Governance
  • Review and update SOP’s as and when the need arises
  • Conduct bi-annually KPA review with staff
  • Manage staff leave and absenteeism
  • Review Accounts Payable Policy annually
  • Conduct workshops with end-user and suppliers

Minimum requirements

  • B-Com Accounting Degree or Degree within Financial Management (NQF 7)
  • 3 years' proven experience in a Supervisory position
  • At least 3 years’ experience on Forex Payments
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in an Accounts Payable Department
  • Knowledge of Kofax would be an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of Oracle
 
Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:
 
  • Extensive knowledge on forex processes and the requirement from the Reserve Bank
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of Reconciliations
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in Oracle Accounts payable module
  • Good understanding of the Accounting Principle
  • Experience in a Higher Education Institute in the same role
  • Customer service orientation and negotiations skills 
  • Good experience in Microsoft
  • Good listening and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Adaptability and flexibility 
  • Understanding of the Accrual system
  • Deadline driven with the ability to multitask
  • Work independently and within a team environment 
  • Good report writing, analysis and presentation skills
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards
