Job description

Job Description:
To proactively provide and render a professional, planned, systemic and well-managed Employee Wellness service to improve the employee’s wellbeing and effectiveness of the University.
  • Conduct initial assessment and render professional counselling and support services to employees who present with psycho-social problems, including making referrals to other wellness providers (both internal and external) where necessary.
  • Compile progress reports on all services rendered in line with the professional guidelines and prescripts.
  • Collaborate relationships between the related internal environments that deal with some components of wellness.
  • Promote employee wellness through appropriate events and promotions, so as to get referrals from Line Management and increase program utilization.
  • Manage the workplace HIV & AIDS program, related HIV and AIDS projects and Implement the HIV & AIDS strategy.
  • Plan and co-ordinate events within the University to create awareness and commemorate significant Health and Wellness related days.
  • Execute specific employee wellness tasks as defined by the wellness stream leader as well as the Employee Wellness committee and the HIV Aids committee.
  • Provide professional solutions to business partners, line managers and employees.
  • Implement work-life balance programmes.
  • Manage and administer wellness training through consultation with Training and Development unit, with regards to   Registered Training Providers where necessary.
  • Ensure all wellness risks are identified and escalated to the relevant body.
  • Ensure sufficient governance is in place to maintain above board wellness practices.

Minimum requirements

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology or any relevant qualification (NQF 7), with a minimum of 3 to 4 years’ proven relevant job-related experience in the field of Employee Wellbeing.
  • Professional registration: 
    • Registration with Employee Assistance Programme Association (EAPA)
    • Registered with Association and/or other related statutory bodies
  • Programme development and management (designing and implementing wellness programmes)
  • Proven knowledge of health and wellness policies and practices
  • Proven experience in Project Management and Planning
  • Proven experience in Facilitation and Counselling within EWP
  • Health and wellness knowlegde (understanding principles of wellness)
  • Problem-solving skills (resolving issues that arise from the wellness programme including personal issues)

  • Interpersonal skills (building relationships with employees and understanding their needs).
  • Analytical skills (assessing data from the wellness programme).
